Life's Big Questions

The biggest question that bugged me until I settled it in college was: If there is a God, what does He expect of me?

Over the years I have discovered that everyone asks similar questions such as: Who made me? How did I get here? Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? Is God knowable?

Unfortunately, many do not find satisfying answers, settle on the wrong answers, get confused and frustrated, or just give up trying to find answers. In fact, I had concluded that the reason I could not find answers to my questions was because God did not exist.

Since that time, I have found answers. And in my quest of finding answers, I realized that there are four answers to four fundamental questions that everyone lives by whether they are aware of them or not. First, Is there more than a physical world? Second, Is there a God? Third, Which God? And fourth, How does God reveal truth?

Providing good answers to these four questions will lead people to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is God and that He reveals truth through His inspired Word, the Bible. This is the way to establish that the correct world view is indeed the Biblical world view.

From the Bible, we discover that God created the heaven and the earth in seven days, that there is one race of people all descended from Adam, that sin is the cause of suffering and death in the world, that eight human souls and an ark load of animals were saved from a world wide cataclysmic flood, that condemnation in hell is forever, that Jesus is the only Savior of the world because only He died to pay for an infinite debt of eternal death, that Jesus must be God or He could never fully pay for an eternal debt, that our very best and most sincere works according to any law or set of rules are futile to gain reward or salvation from God, that salvation is provided by God's loving grace and mercy instead of what we truly deserve, that God wants to save everyone from their sins, but God gives salvation to only those who believe that their only hope for salvation is in trusting Him to give it to them as a gift because they are unworthy and unable to deserve it.

If you have questions, God has answers. He wants you to know Him and to know His will for your life. He wants you to live a fulfilled purpose in life. How about you? Are you ready to seek and to receive God's answers for your life?

God's will for your life

As incredible as it sounds, I know God's will for your life. Sure, this sounds like an outlandish claim, but let me explain.

The Bible is God's inspired Word through which He reveals His will for our lives including yours. That's right, your life is an 'open book,' that is, if you open the Bible. Consider the following passages:

Salvation

  • God does not want you or anyone else to perish (1 Pe.3:9).
  • Jesus wants you to come to Him (Mt 11:28).
  • Jesus wants you to believe in Him (Joh 14:29).
  • Spiritual growth

  • Jesus wants you to follow Him (Mt 16:24).
  • Jesus wants you to pray without ceasing (1 Th 5:17).
  • Jesus wants you to study your Bible (2 Ti 2:15.)
  • God wants you to come and reason with Him (Is 1:18).
  • Jesus wants you to get baptized (Mt 28:20).
  • Jesus wants you to let Him add you to a church home (1 Co 10:18).
  • Jesus wants you to be participate in the great commission (Mt 28:19-20).
  • There is more, but you get the idea. It is easy to discover God's will for your life. Just read your Bible!
